Let's assume for a second that the pandemic has disappeared . The mask and ventilator of the last affected person is taken off , as they open their eyes to look at the doctor , who is as much happy as the patient themselves . This moment, this very moment, in which the doctor feels equal with the patient, recognizes the oneness between them, is the lesson the pandemic was hoping we all will learn . The doctor is not a doctor until he has a patient. If we realize that each one of us are here for a reason , a purpose that creates the purpose for someone else, the ignorant human thought of "I am holier than thou" disappears and the thought of "Tathvamasi" (I am That) , awakens. You don't need to be a Hindu to understand this. In a recent popular post viral online, the author has deftly brought out the spiritual parallels one needs to draw out of this ordeal. Every point in his latest post signifies how the impact of this turbulent situation is universally impartial and seen as a Earth's way of redeeming it's rightful place , which has been tested by mankind's increasing unsatisfying excessive need for making the best out of every situation. Sometimes, there is only as much sugar or salt you can add in a dish. We, as human beings are blessed with the creative intellect by the supreme power, and the ultimate end state of this intellect is to stop using this intellect, forget that you have a mind and mix with the universe forgetting all sense of identity.
Every single job is under threat now, just the timing of the impact is different. The ones, that were in the ground doing tangible work that warranted their physical presence took the hit first, then the ones that hid behind themselves behind laptops, and so on. Except the medical field, nearly everyone is going through their stock of resources and cursing themselves for all the things that they bought in excess, things they bought which had no need, but by buying they created a need for it . An excess of excess. Bigger Tvs, Bigger refrigerators, more number of properties, more number of unnatural articles that were created by murdering natural resources . Like a popular joke on social media, we live in a society when artificial lemons are used as dish washers being sold in AC shops, while real lemons are being sold on the streets . Yes, there are supermarkets, but let's not forget that mankind has already created artificial products to mimic natural products as , everyone wants everything now.
Yes, it's as tempting as the need to scratch a wound that has a band-aid, but do all temptations need to be attended to ? Spiritual sources often reiterate on the need to not be greedy, to not pursue every desire you have, as one desire leads to another and to just be content with one's lot. But sadly, even an atheist has to adhere to this as , whether this is coming from religion or an enlightened human, it is true that we don't have the ability to put a ceiling on desires unless we really , really make an effort for the same. As I am writing this, I was looking around me, the things that I had bought out of excitement, out of ego , out of showing my vanity, out of greed, and also the few real important things that I bought out of real necessity. What prompted me into splurging? The fear that I may not have what he/she has, the fear that I may not be seen as an equal.
If all were equal before the eyes of Law and God, one might argue, why shouldn't I have what everyone else has. The answer is simple. We are all not equal , in the sense , we are not equal in the things that we have, the way we look, the gifts that we possess, the things that we don't have, the characteristics that inflate our ego into thinking that we are unique. But we are all equal in the sense that we all have to be content with what is already there with us, what is already there with us. If you have a basic phone, that's all you need. If you have an I-Phone, that's all you need. Unless someone gifts you, buys you another phone, you don't make a deliberate move to buy a Plus one of what you have, This might be the most lamest, nonsensical , impossible thing to follow, as you have an instant worry , what if you never become better of what you are, as you take pride in the innate gift of a human to use their intelligence to make themselves better , to better their situation. Hey , Evolution doesn't mean growing an extra limb - it meant losing the excess hair and shedding dress made out of animal skin. It was about how life found a way to survive in Land, water and in both. Where are we now ? We are stuffing implants from breasts to buttocks and parading our naked glory . How distasteful and pathetic is this ? Original interests of conducting plastic surgeries were to help acid victims, accident victims with a new lease of life , but not to rework on healthy people to look different . These are the kind of people who makes God think, their birth itself was the very Accident because they didn't choose to accept what was due but rather again escaped from the ideal. Our paranoid desires have created a new purpose for the Plastic surgery industry . This disease has affected all industries, and I rest my case there.

An excess of excess . Man wasn't satisfied with chicken meat, duck meat, turkey meat. He wanted more. Bats. dogs, snakes, rats, scorpions, garden bugs. Anything that moved , went straight to the boiling oil , because famine pushed them to eat anything at will. The ecosystem was built in a proper prey-predator-victim model , but when man manipulated his digestive capabilities to reach out beyond his palate, it disturbed the food chain. I am not advocating vegetarian diet, I am just making a point of how , excess in anything induces pressure on all parties involved. Look where we are now. Resources were used out of turn and finding order itself results in chaos. We don't have enough water to drink, enough space to live, enough good air to breathe but an excess of pollution, excess of excess. We have to travel back in time, to a time when we weren't doing things out of will. If you have purchased a house already, don't buy another one. If you have drilled a bore motor for 600 feet, don't drill further. Unless you wanted volcano of poisonous gases in your taps. If you have purchased one vehicle ,don't go for another one. If the thought that, should a day come, when the cash value of your house, your vehicle , jewelry, will be in negative and you will incur the most loss as you have invested double, triple of everything , it will make you take wiser decisions. If you were a restaurant owner, stop selling bigger sandwiches , burgers and reduce the size of how much a person can eat without straining their mouth. Why flag obesity ? If you were a cricketer, don't buy hundred different kinds of bats and gloves. If you were a teacher , don't buy excessive number of chalks and red pens. If you were a dancer, don't buy more than one anklet or if you were a musician, don't buy different kinds of violins, guitars, flutes and percussion instruments. If you were owning one pet, don't buy another one. If you buy another pet, it increases the price of the pet and someone else has to over spend by over working. It's a malicious cancerous chain. The list goes on. You might wonder, how to balance the things you don't have ? Associate yourself with people who have what you don't have. If you learnt to share things with each other, you will maintain what you have, in top condition so that you can share that with someone else, who in turn will share their top condition product with you. That's how we were expected to sustain ourselves . We were not created to be a copy paste of everyone else, buying and stuffing everything what everyone has. That's where the human intellect comes into place. The ability to distinguish when to be in control and when to dial down.
In line with my previous post on the "OneHabitDown" challenge [ My Previous Blog Post ] and this post's "Excess Cancer" I have decided to not buy any more perfumes . I love perfumes and fragrant deodorants of all kinds from oils to antiperspirants and sprays. I don't smell bad, it's just that , it's my thing. People close to me know of my affinity towards these articles. But, to set an example, to show that my mind, word and deed are one and the same, I am shutting down this greed of mine. I have a lot of these already and I am going to pull the plug on buying any more, until I have exhausted all the products I am having already. I am not going to waste my money on more of these, but rather use the ones more wisely, make them sustain for as long as they can , reduce the burden on the environment and simultaneously cure myself off my "Excess Cancer" , effective immediately. Sometimes, it feels light, to let go. Be it, people, bad memories, past sentiments and the like.
Our planet is now overloaded , over-everything. It is already having indigestion of human discard and this obesity of human's trespasses result in earthquakes and tornadoes, that arise to wipe out all the excess. Nature executes it's plans as deviously , as cunningly as it can. Let's not push it further. Let's cure each other of our respective "Excess Cancers" and start grooming the resources what we already have , so that we can share with others, just like how they we will share with us, their own groomed resources.
Arise, Re plan, Re start , Re-Engineer. Follow whoever you believe is an ideal example , but do make sure, they don't have "Excess Cancer" . I am now entreating you to adopt the "OneHabitDown" challenge and cure yourself of the "Excess Cancer" that you also have suffered all this while.
Make it tough to earn anything, so that you don't take anything for granted . Delay the necessity , time it right, to match the demands of everyone.
Let's help corona get out, by sending the virus our greed, jealousy, lust and all other bad habits as Gifts so that the virus is so satisfied to never ever visit us again . The virus was sent to us , to collect all the bad habits, missteps, and all human deficiencies as gifts. Let us give it , all these gifts that we each one of us have and wish it Goodbye.
Written with best intentions ...
